In this class you will learn how to do increases and decreases in circular herringbone, as well as learn how to work the tension so you can make a self supporting vessel. Ladders made from bugle beads will be provided for each student as you use a pre-made ladder to start your vessel.

Date: September 22, 2019 from 11:00am to 4:00pm
Supplies Required: All registered students must bring the following supplies with them to class (unless buying the kit which includes the beads):
- beading mat
- light
- needles & thread (fireline 6 or 8)
- Beads, if not buying kit please bring:
- 12 grams size 11 cylinder beads, Delica or Aiko
- 1.5 grams size 11 round seed beads (or a strand or tube of drops)
- For a vessel with the stopper, bring a drop for the top of the stopper-see photo)
Optional Kit Fee: $20 payable to the instructor on the day of class. Includes the beads.
Cancellation Information: Registration is limited to 20 students. All class registrations are final. If you have registered and are unable to attend you may send someone else in your place. Please contact us and we will try to re-sell your seat once the class has reached the maximum number of students. BSNC retains the right to cancel this class within 14 days of scheduled date due to low enrollment. A prompt refund will be issued if cancelled by BSNC.
Instructor Bio: River Rose’s journey with beads and beading began over 26 years ago when she wanted to find beads to match a pair of earrings she’d bought at the Renaissance Faire. She discovered bead stores, which she never knew existed. As she hunted for beads and bead stores, she learned to bead, and within 2 years her life focus had taken a very serious turn in a new direction.
Initially, River was all over the field of beading, learning everything from simple stringing, to brick stitch, peyote stitch, right angle weave… She settled on peyote stitch as a favorite for several years along with branching and flowering. She’s had several designs published in bead magazines and published her own newsletter for a couple of years when she learned herringbone stitch in 2001.
She experienced an explosion of vision and imagery when she learned herringbone stitch, seeing the unending possibility of the stitch in the first day of learning it. She still loves herringbone stitch the most because it is the most versatile stitch when it comes to creating 3D pieces. Herringbone stitch both increases and decreases with perfect fluidity, allowing the bead worker so much freedom in the realm of shaping pieces such as purses and vessels.
River now has quite a collection of herringbone stitch vessels of all different sizes and shapes. It is her joy to introduce beading students and artisans to the making of herringbone stitch vessels so that they too may embark on an exploration of the unlimited possibilities of herringbone stitch.
