Tiger Tiger

Matthew Brody was born on December 1st,  January 14th and then again on  June 19th.  He spent the first 11 years of his life with a wolf pack in the far North where he was raised.  After getting lost in a snow storm, Matthew was found by humans, and learned human language.  He was then taken in by a human family and learned to live in human society. From his parental units he learned arts and crafts, wood, metal working and electronics, along with a dash of chemistry and metallurgy.

Matthew eventually made his way to Berkeley, where he obtained degrees in both Physics and Astronomy.  The Raygun years were not kind to those with mere bachelor’s degrees.  After a number of jobs, that ended with departmental closings, closures and departmental reshufflings, as well working for a few people that were certifiable, Matthew was on unemployment.  After two and a half years he had a wretched looking resume.  There were many, many other unemployed with years of experience out there competing for the few jobs to be had.

As unemployment insurance started running out, Matthew wound up at the Marin City Flea market.  As selling fleas got boring, he decided it was time to head East.  Along with his partner and best friend, they headed to Hong Kong.  After a few trips to Thailand, Nepal and surrounding countries, Tiger Tiger was born. Susan and Matthew put together something greater than themselves, bringing in everything from textiles, clothes, singing bowls, Buddhist artifacts, other oddities, as well as beads. Early on Matthew took an interest in stone beads from Asia, dZi, Pumtek and other decorated agate beads. Matthew and Susan became a fixture at Gift Shows and Bead Society Bazaars.

Matthew will speak on history and culture of people and their beads, including pyu and chin beads. He’ll also have Robert Burkett’s designed beads. For more information, go to Tiger-Tiger.

He will bring fascinating beads to show and sell.
